Aims 

  • To help motivate children to participate to the best of their ability in their own education
  • To enable parents to actively participate in their children’s education
  • To build up a partnership between Home and School in order to enhance the children’s life-long attitudes to learning
  • To promote co-operation between home, school and community agencies for the benefit of the children’s education

Home School Community Liaison

Family Learning: Cookery
Marie Coffey is the Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator/teacher in St. Joseph’s Primary School. She works with parents, teachers, pupils, and local and statutory agencies to support the education of all our pupils and particularly children who may be experiencing educational or other disadvantage. She promotes family learning through in-class programmes where parents and children come together to work in an enjoyable atmosphere. Courses and classes are organised for parents and Home Visits provide confidential support to our families.

  • Storysack-making every Tuesday morning 9-11 in St Mary's Primary School Parents' Room. Newcomers are welcome.
  • The school's Reading Buddy Programme is up and running  and we welcome volunteer Buddies  to our programme this year, Teresa Daly, Priscilla Cummins and Marian White.Our thanks to Claire Meehan who is the co-ordinator of the programme and to WWETB Adult Education Co-ordinator, Nicola McCarthy-Hanlon.
  • The Good as New St. Vincent de Paul shop opposite the parish church will accept donations of unwanted school uniforms in good condition.
