St. Joseph’s Primary School is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore. The school caters for boys from 2nd to 6th classes. It is located on Mitchell Street in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, a bustling seaside town at the mouth of the River Colligan set against the backdrop of the Comeragh Mountains.

The school has 133 boys on the roll for the school year 2019-2020 and our pupils are from Ireland, England, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, China, Thailand and Syria, with family links to Wales, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and the USA. Our motto is “Ní neart go cur le chéile”, which means there is no strength without unity. Our ethos is one of inclusion and we welcome pupils from all races and faiths. In 2008 we created a Garden of Inclusion that welcomes visitors as they enter the school building.

Principal Maeve Saunderson leads a team of ten teachers, four special needs assistants, a secretary, a caretaker and two cleaners. The school is also served by a Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator. There is a very active Parents' Council and there are links to the local community through the Board of Management. Facilities in the school include five mainstream classrooms, a shared learning resource classroom, three resource teaching rooms, a parents’ room, a library, and an assembly hall which is also used for indoor PE activities and performances. Each classroom is equipped with a digital overhead projector, an interactive whiteboard and a teaching computer, as well as three computers and a printer for use by pupils. All our computers are networked and protected with an NCTE firewall for Internet access. The school also has twenty iPads for class, group and and individual work.
