Green Schools

In 2007, St. Joseph’s Primary School became involved in the Green Schools Programme. We achieved our first Green Flag for Litter and Waste in 2009, our second flag for Energy in 2011, our third flag for Water in 2013 and our fourth for Transport in 2015. We have seen a huge effort by all pupils and staff to reduce waste and recycle as much as possible and to save energy and water whenever possible.

We are currently working on achieving our fifth Green Flag on Biodiversity.

Our Green Schools Committee has been appointed for the 2016/2017 school year. The committee work closely with our coordinator, Ms. Ryan. Their jobs include emptying the green bins into our compost bins and washing the bins with harvested rainwater.
